Advantages of additive technologies

When should you choose 3D printing technology?

You want to minimize upfront expenses

3D printing eliminates the need for initial costs (unlike methods like injection moulding), making it cost-effective for small and medium production runs. Consequently, you have the flexibility to order the exact number of parts you require.

You require parts with short lead times

With a standard lead time of 5 working days and a priority lead time of 3 days, 3D printing offers quick turnaround. All you need to place an order is a 3D model, which is a significant advantage compared to injection moulding, where waiting for a mould can take several months.

Your parts are complex

Additive manufacturing, particularly in powder-based technologies like HP's MJF, offers exceptional freedom in shaping the produced parts, and intricate geometries do not impact production costs.

When Does 3D Printing Make Financial Sense?

HP Multi Jet Fusion devices deliver comparable part quality to injection molding, so the determining factor remains the cost, which depends on the geometry, size, and ordered volume of the components. Geometric complexity of the project significantly favors 3D printing in this regard, while larger part sizes lean towards injection molding.
Meanwhile, the chart on the right illustrates the relationship between the quantity of produced parts and their unit cost in both technologies.
Here are the key advantages of 3D printing over injection molding:

  • No Initial Costs: 3D printing eliminates the need for costly molds
  • Rapid Turnaround: It offers fast production turnaround times.
  • Greater Geometric Flexibility: 3D printing excels at handling complex designs.
  • MDesign Flexibility Between Batches: You can make project changes between production runs.

3D Printing Technology

Why choose HP's Multi Jet Fusion?

Industrial strength

HP’s MJF technology delivers a quality comparable to injection molding, making it an ideal choice for spare parts production. Our extensive collaboration with large factories further validates its industrial-grade performance.

Low production costs

By leveraging this solution, companies across various industries, including automotive, airline, and medical sectors, can experience cost reductions of up to 60%. These significant savings are achieved through the high manufacturing capacity of the printers and the ability to produce shapes that are otherwise unattainable with alternative technologies.

High performance of machines

HP Jet Fusion printers can produce parts with a total volume of up to 4,500 cm3 per hour. Our machines can create up to 15 kg of parts (approximately 2,000 items) in a single day, ensuring prompt delivery of large quantities of parts.

FAQ

Our specialists answer frequently asked questions about short-run production.

Does the price decrease with the number of parts ordered?
The production cost per single piece is the same for one item and for 1,000 items, but, of course, when ordering larger quantities, we give discounts.
How long does it take to produce 1,000 items?
The lead time of such an order depends on the size of the parts. In the case of small elements, it will be 5 working days, and larger ones may take up to a month. Based on the 3D model of the part, we can state the completion date quickly.
What does the cost of manufacturing a short production run depend on?
There are four main factors which affect the price: the number of parts ordered, the overall size and volume, as well as the required lead time (for longer lead times we give larger discounts).
What is the dimensional repeatability of the printed parts?
The repeatability of printed parts is one of our priorities. Once a week, we print special parts for a measurement to verify the accuracy of dimensions and correct the printing process if necessary.
